Hello,

Your granddad has been dizzy with blood pressure on the lower side. Dizziness, weakness, fainting commonly occurs due to hypotension. Certain blood pressure medicines can also cause hypotension. Maintain a daily blood pressure chart for morning, afternoon and evening. Accordingly the medicines should be given or held back.

Medical conditions like Addison's disease affecting the parathyroid or adrenal glands could cause a drop in blood pressure levels. Dehydration, a heart attack, heart failure, heart valve disease and an extremely low heart rate (bradycardia) can cause low blood pressure. Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), anemia, lack of nutrients in the diet also causes dizziness.

Low levels of vitamin B-12, folate and iron can keep the body from producing enough red blood cells (anemia), which can lead to low blood pressure and hence dizziness. You are suggested to get your grand dad clinically examined by a GP or in the ER. He should get a complete medical check up done. He should also get a routine cardiac test done to rule out any developing CAD or valve disease so that treatment can be started at the earliest.

Presently, he should be at rest. Make sure his vitals are normal. Do not let him skip meals he should take home made nutritious food. He can take multivitamin supplements also. Give him adequate quantity of water and fluids so that he is not dehydrated. He should stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

Please mention your age. Fluctuating BP is very dangerous. Do one thing, monitor your BP for 3 days. If it's very low, please drink salt water. If the fluctuations continue for 3 days, please consult a doctor. Sleep properly without any disturbance. Take rest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
