Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. My 4 yo son fell prone onto his arm/forearm onto the floor from a chair. He experienced immediate elbow pain. I cannot locate any specific bone tenderness when I touch his arm/forarm bones. He is able to rotate , flex and extend his elbow and wrist without localising any pain - but he is guarding his elbow/ not using it. As the day has progressed he seems to be using his arm a little more. Do I need an xray? or can I wait it out? Could it just be a severe sprain or more likely to be a fracture?
In my opinion if there is no localised tenderness and if the pain and range of movement is improving, the injury is not significant and do not need any x ray. For any other assistance do call back.
