Eosinophelia (raised eosinophil count) can be due to various reasons like atmospheric allergies, allergies due to food and medicines as well as parasitic infections and connective tissue disorders etc. In these cases, the treatment of eosinophelia will be the treatment of the cause. Also many of the childhood allergies are resolved completely or become less in intensity during adulthood and hence, a drop in eosinophil count to normal level.
In some cases, the cause of eosinophelia can not be seen easily. In such cases, a chronic inflammation etc., may be a cause. Most of the eosinophelia, if present without symptoms, are resolved on their own with passage of time and do not require any treatment. Besides the treatment of cause, antiallergics like cetirizine etc., and in some cases corticosteroids orally may be needed particularly symptoms of chronic cough, wheezing chest or severe itching etc.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
