Suggest Remedy For Falling Arms & Shoulder Pain

For the past 6 months my right arm has been falling asleep when I go to bed, it hurts, my shoulder is also in pain. It keeps me from sleeping some nights. When I get up in the middle of the night to feed my 4 month old sometimes I cannot even use that hand to hold the bottle. Some people told me that its probably from holding the baby in that arm to feed him, but I never use that arm to hold or feed him.

Hi,

This is a common occurrence in postnatal period, etiology is multifactorial, increased weight, increase in breast size and weight, hunchback posture due to baby lifting, sleeping in one position for long, all these are contributory factors, and may also leads to thoracic outlet syndrome.

You need to start physiotherapy exercises, reduce weight, get your thyroid level checked, change your sleeping posture after every hour or two. Even if after doing all these things condition doesn't improve, then you need to get a thorough clinical examination along with MRI to rule out other ominous causes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
