Suggest Remedy For Fever And Loose Motion In Baby After Vaccination
Sir, Yesterday evening, I d taken my 3 month old baby for her 2nd DTP vaccination. Since this morning, she is having loose motions with fever around 100F. the frequency is 6-8 motions in last 5 hours. Baby is conterminously crying while awake. The Doctor said as she is urinating, it is fine. and these are mild side effects of DTP which are normal. Please suggest what to do now. Regards, Sandeep Slathia

Hi,
Fever the baby has can be explained to be side effect of vaccination but not loose motion. The loose motion could follow incidental change in feeding /viral. Continue breast feeding as usual.
You can give 5 crocin pediatric drops to baby three times a day./apply over the counter ointment'thrombophobe to the painful prick srea. Give baby ORS powder in boiled & cooled water to prevent dehydration.
In case the fever does not respond or rises and loose motions do not reduce in 24 hours or baby denies feeding ,there are signs of dehydration.
Baby needs medication after physical assessment .In such a case take her to a pediatrician.
