Suggest Remedy For Fever, Headache And Weakness Post Injury From A Fall

Hello my 90 year old father has taken a fall, he hit his nose on the tub, but thankfully has not broken his nose, there was a lot of blood though, I want to say it has to do with the plavix he is taking. After applying pressure and wiping his nose the bleeding subsided. The following day he started showing flu like symptoms.( fever, weakness, very very congested, headaches, and no desire to eat) he has a history of high blood pressure, diabetes and has recently had a stroke. He is reluctant to go to the e.r again. I don t want to put him they unecessary tests and put him through the hospital stress. But, if this is of concern I will move forward on taking him in. Greatly appreciate your response.

Hello,

Your father sustained a fall at the age of 90 yrs. He needs to be thoroughly examined clinically for head injuries, bone fractures, dementia, blunt abdominal trauma and nose and throat examination. In my opinion, fever, congestion and headache may be due to injury to the nose and superadded viral flu or bacterial upper respiratory infection. He can be given tab. Acetaminophen for fever every 6th hourly. Fluid replacement is important as there was heavy blood loss. Nose is to be examined for any fractures or any other abnormalities. It's better if you take him once to a physician or an ENT specialist and get him examined.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
