Suggest Remedy For Gas And Heartburn Issues In Pregnancy
Hi i am 15 weeks pregnant and i have severe heartburn problems... during a cold, my obgyn prescribed me rantac 150 along with some other meds and i found that i felt great after using this antacid. it is now two days since i ran out of the tablet and now i'm feeling terrible gas and heartburn issues. please advise whether it will be ok for me to continue using rantac 150 twice daily and that it will not harm my baby.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Epigastric pain and heartburn due to acid reflux is common in pregnancy due to the hormonal changes on the esophageal sphincter. Rantac is ranitidine and is safe in pregnancy, and for the fetus, but it is not recommended for long term usage. Measures like avoid eating spicy food, not lying immediately after having meals and sleeping with the head end of the bed a bit elevated should be followed in pregnancy to avoid acid reflux and heartburn.
