Hi, I am a female, aged 35 years and having a goiter (thyroid) on my neck for the last 2 years or so. Initially it was a small one but now it is become slightly bigger ie., grown. There is no pain but it is visible and easily noticeable. We had done biopsy of blood shells some time back and it was normal then. Kindly advice us what to do for this?
Hello, For thyroid disease if the T3 T4 TSH are normal . But you have a swelling then get done fine needle aspiration cytology ie the tissue biopsy of the swelling. And whether diseased or not you should get it removed. As the thyroid swelling may convert into malignant disease or there may be some areas which does not come in the biopsy field which contain the disease. You should get it operated and removed surgically. In doubt do reply.
