Suggest Remedy For Gum Injury While Fitted With Braces

I have braces. Recently, some food got caught between my brackets and wire, and my gum leading my gum to become gouged and torn. How can I treat the area? The part of my gum which was torn has since become white, and is now splitting into pieces. If I try to floss between my teeth, it causes me pain. I can't sever the piece that is loose, and I don't know how to treat it.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms due to gum injury the mucosa is torn and is inflamed leading to pain..

Nothing to worry you can apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the sore area of gum and can take Ibuprofen for pain relief and reducing Inflammation..

Do warm saline gargles..
Cold packs over the area will help in reducing Inflammation..
Avoid flossing till the area heals although you can floss in remaining areas..
Avoid hard food to prevent further injury..

Hope this information helps.
