Suggest Remedy For Heavy Bleeding After Taking Morning After Pill
Hi, I have a question about my period. I recently started my period & it was on time & lasted the normal 5 to 6 days. Then I started to bleed again but this time it is heavier. About a week or so prior to my period I took the morning after pill about 20 hours later. Could this be a miscarriage? Or is there another cause? I am getting period cramps & have had bloating as well which has subsided. Thank you
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Morning after pill is an emergency contraceptive pill which needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. Earlier you take, it is more effective in preventing pregnancy. Since you have taken it by 20 hours, what you have done is right and it should offer protection against pregnancy. You should get your periods within 3 weeks from the day you have taken the pill. It appears that what you have got is right as the pill is going to prevent pregnancy by inducing the periods in the form of withdrawal bleeding. What you were experiencing cramps and bloating could be due to side effects of the drugs, which should subside over a period of time. Hope the information provided is useful. All the best.
