I am a 51 year old woman. I had my tubes tied many years ago after my last child was born. In the past 5 years i have had very heavy menstrual flow with much cramping. is there any birth control method that i could use to lighten my period or stop it altogether. it is affecting my presence at work. I have had my period since i have been 12 years old. Im ready for it to be done!

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Having heavy menstrual flow with cramps is a sign of hormonal imbalance. You need to get your blood hormones namely FSH, LH, and Thyroid hormones (T3, T4 and TSH) levels checked, as any abnormality in this would cause such symptoms.
Since you are nearing menopause, kindly seek opinion with the reports from a Gynecologist for proper management.
Wish you all the best.
