Alcohol, to be more specific
ethanol - the active ingredient, is toxic to the
liver. Actually, it is toxic to the liver cells, and damages them, which then spill their granules content into the blood flow. Those granules contain the parametres you described above. And if I had your
blood test in my hands, I would first ask you ''do you drink?'' Alcohol is also responsible and the major culprit of liver fatty disease (hepatosteatosis). In the grade it was discovered, it can be easily regressed by discontinuing alcohol intake. I would also express my certainty that
ALT, AST and
GGT will also come down to normal or near-normal ranges. When everything comes back to normal, only then we can discuss for you to drink again, but, of course, in much lesser amounts and always in controlled dosages. In the end, these are only a doctor's recommendations and you have a great chance to benefit from discontinuing alcohol. The choice is always yours.
