Suggest Remedy For Hole On Side Of Tongue Post A Biopsy Cut
Hi, I had a biopsy done about 3 weeks ago on my tongue. He took a big chunk out of the side, and the stitches fell out within 1 day. There is now what looks like a hole on the side of the tongue. In 3 weeks, it has not healed at all. I went back to the surgeon, and he re-stitched it, and the stitches fell out two hours later. I haven't gone back. Will this eventually heal on it's own? So frustrating
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain in case if the biopsy site is not healing even after 3 weeks and the stitches have fallen again you should consult your surgeon back and get evaluated.. Another thing that you should do is to get blood sugar investigation done as blood sugar if it is high can lead to delayed wound healing and also increase the chances of infection.. If required skin grafting can be done to recover back the lost tissue if it is in excess.. As of now you can gargle with antimicrobial mouthwash. Apply steroid containing oral paste over the biopsy site to reduce inflammation.. Take soft diet and drink ample of liquids..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
