Suggest Remedy For Indentation At The Site Of Boil Post Drainage
Hi doctor. I have a question. I had an infection spot on my right butt cheek, went to the er, had it drained and plugged. Well I went back today, they pulled the plug out, and now I have a big hole that is very painful and I really feel like I need stitches. Please help! Thanks, Katharine
If all the pus has been drained out of the boil, you need not worry, it will get healed. You are suggested to get it cleaned and antiseptic dressing done every alternate day. Be very careful not to get it infected. Consult with your treating doctor; you may need a course of oral antibiotics (Augmentin) for quicker healing.
Do not touch, pick or scratch, it may infect the wound. To help relieve the pain you can take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed. Take care of your hygiene, be careful when you bathe, do not leave the dressing wet & soggy, get it changed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
