Suggest Remedy For Inflammation In The Ear

I am having some pain in my ear and it feels wet inside. Went to doc. And he said there is inflammation behind the ear drum and some clear liquid there too. He said there was no redness or infection. What could this be? Should I worry about loosing my hearing?

Hi,

Noted your short history about having pain in ear, Doctor's opinion is fluid inside without any redness or inflammation.
Your short history indicates that your have got what we call as secretory Otitis Media in which there is collection of clear fluid withing the ear drum.
The raised pressure causes pain and feeling full or even reduced hearing.
Although this takes time but usually resolves within 3 weeks.
I would advise you the following:
Decongestant oral medicine with antihistamine effect.
Anti-inflammatory medicine with oral steroid if there is no diabetes.
Antibiotic if required.
Not to blow nose.
Nasal decongestant drops with steam inhalations.
Take rest.
Do not speak aloud.
Complete the course till complete resolution which is possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
