Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have irregular bowel movements (usually go once every week or two. I rarely use laxatives to help but today I did. I still had a very small bm but there was a lot of red blood in the toilet. I have had purging disorder off and on for 13 years. I am sure this has something to do with it. Should I be concerned or am I overreacting?
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. The blood in the stool is not related to the purging disorder. It can be delivered to hemorrhoids. I suggest you to: -Use topical treatments. Apply an over-the-counter hemorrhoid cream or suppository containing hydrocortisone -use pads containing witch hazel or a numbing agent. -Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath I also suggest you the to do some examinations related to the bowel movements,a blood test,a stool test and a visit to a gastrologyst. Hope it helps! Kind regards, Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi
