82 year old male, history of diabeties, copd, heart disease. He had a cath put in around 3-21-11, and taken out around 3-28-11, then on 4-13-11 he had some kind of spell were he said that his chest was hurting and couldn't catch his beart and got sick vomiting. Had ems to come check him and all vitals checked ok. Then on friday 4-15-11 he started saying that he could not pee and he needed to go to the doctor so called his doctor and got him an appointment for same day, went there and they put him on a cath, and told us that we had 3 chooses 1 he can live backed up all the time, 2 have a cath the rest of his life, and 3 surgery and the doctor did not think that dad would survive the surgery less than 50% chance. Sunday 4-17-11, went to get him for breakfest and he was so very weak we had to help him get up and we had to dress him, and walk him to the table.
Went to get in the truck to go to church and he was shaking really bad but said he felt ok we checked his sugar to make sure it was good and it was. Got to church and 20 min after being there he got sick vomiting, called ems they said his heart rate was alittle high and o2 level was low at 88, they transported to the e.r and the hosp addmitted he saying he had some kind of infection and put him on meds for this. Then on thur 4-21-11 his heart rate jumped to 150 and o2 level dropped to 72 on this morning and then again on this night, hosp moved him to ccu and said test showed he had a heart attack. He then of course was put on o2, 4 litters and o2 has been good high 90's, then they tried to lower it and even take him off it but it kept dropping to low 80's and high 70's and they would have to put it back to 4 littler. Then on wensday 4-27-11 they sent him home on o2, 2 litters, and now his o2 level has dropped again to low 80's or high 70's, so we turned his o2 tank back up to the 4 litters, but a aid with home health came and told us not to touch the o2 tank again and that when he got that low he needs to use the breathing mechine thing that he sucks on to try and raise the ball inside it, and do his inheuler, but those don't help him, and we have to remind him to breath in deep thur his nose and let it out thur his mouth. What should we do and shouldn't he be moved up to 4 litters on his o2? We tried to contact his doctor but never heard back from him.
