Hallow Dear,

Meprate pills are pills of Medroxyprogesterone and will institute the withdrawal bleeding within 4-7 days after discontinuing them. There are no major side effects of Meprate except you may get some nausea & vomiting, breast heaviness and putting on weight. Some salt restriction may minimise these effects.

In fact fibroid uterus never causes delayed menses. If you are sexually active, you should first try to look for any evidence of pregnancy by:

1. Pregnancy test on urine, or

2. Beta hCG test on blood, or

3. Ultrasonography

If you are diagnosed as non-pregnant, then take Meprate as prescribed by your doctor.

You are now past 30 years. So this is the best time to get the fibroid removed surgically. Fibroids of considerable size cannot be treated with medicines. They do cause irregular frequent (intermenstrual) heavy bleeding which may render you anaemic.

I would advise you to go for surgical fibroid removal.

Please report to your Gynaecologist.
