Suggest Remedy For Itching And Swelling In The Hand From A Splinter
I got a small splinter or bee sting in my left hand that was too small to take out. about 12 hours later my palm and the place around the splinter started swelling, itching, and burning. it has been about 48 hours since i got the splinter and my whole hand is swollen, red, and itchy
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems to be allergic reaction to the toxic chemical that has been injected by the bee under the skin due to bee sting. The swelling, redness, itching and pain is due to inflammation secondary to allergic reaction.. You can take anti-allergic medicine like fexofenadine [allegra] and diphenhydrmine [benadryl] for reducing allergy symptoms. Apply a steroid ointment over the sting site to reduce inflammation.. You can also apply calamine lotion.. You can also take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Do cold compresses..
It will take 4 to 5 days to almost a week for the swelling and pain to resolve completely..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
