Suggest Remedy For Itchy Bump At IV Site After Iron Infusions
I m currently getting weekly iron infusions and I ve noticed I get a small slightly itchy bump at each iv site or wherever I was stuck trying to get a good vein. I have a bump at each place where I ve been stuck now. What s causing this? It doesn t burn or really bother me...just slightly itchy. I had a Pic Line, but it became infected, hence the regular IV for infusions now. Will an undiagnosed blood infection cause the itchy bumps?
You are getting itchy bumps at IV site. It is a side effect of iron infusion. The side effects vary from person to person, some experience dizziness, bloating, swelling of the face, gastrointestinal pain, etc. If the rash continues to get worse you can take antihistamine for relieve. Apply a thin layer of ointment / cream hydrocortisone on the affected area.
Do not pop, touch or scratch. Cold compression and applying ice on the affected area may be helpful. Take care of your hygiene. Do not let the affected area get infected. Stay well hydrated. If you are doubting on undiagnosed blood infection, then you are suggested to get clinically examined and get all required blood examination and investigations done. You will be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
