Suggest Remedy For Itchy Hands, Hives And Tight Throat Post Treatment For Allergic Reaction
my daughter had a severe reaction to an allergy shot and was rushed by ambulance to the er. She was given three doses of epinephrine and two doses of Benadryl along with steroids. She was out all day today with no issues but now is having trouble with her hands itching and hives appearing. Her blood pressure is 142/78 and she feels dizzy. We have been to the hospital twice yesterday and they monitor her and send her home. Her throat feels tight and I dont know what to do
This may be the side effect of Benadryl. So I suggest you stop worrying about this. An anti-allergic syrup containing Levocetrizine / Cetrizine will help her out. Give her some lozenges like vicks and ask her to do gargle with lukewarm water containing a pinch of salt. Tightness in the throat may suggest the development of edema in the larynx at the time of acute allergic reaction which has now been counteracted by epinephrine shot.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Deep Singh, General Surgeon
