General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

An allergic reaction would present with itching, swelling, redness and increased warmth.

It is possible, that by itching the area, bacteria can sometimes be introduced under the skin resulting in an infection so this would have to be ruled out.

Using an oral antihistamine and anti inflammatory pain medication would help eg ibuprofen, naproxen, cataflam

Your doctor would be able to tell you if antibiotics are needed.

I hope this helps
