Suggest Remedy For Itchy Scalp With Zits Despite Using Head And Shoulders Shampoo.

I have itchy scalp, back of my head. Feels like zits. Area has been getting bigger. Feels like one leaks or pops after scratching. Had a Dr. look at it before I felt bumps or zits. He thought it may be some sort of dermatitus. Recommended clinical strength Head and Shoulders shampoo. Have used it for a week. Area of irritation has gotten bigger. Any suggestions?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain that itchy scalp aloNg with zits that seems to be leaking fluid can be due to causes like:
-Hair follicle infection or Folliculitis.
-Allergic reaction.
-Impetigo.
-Contact Dermatitis etc..

I would suggest you to consult a Trichologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scraping from the scalp, blood tests etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

In case of infection like Folliculitis and Impetigo that is commonly a bacterial infection,you can be advised to apply a combination of antibiotic ointment over the scalp..
You can also apply steroid lotion ..
Avoid scratching the scalp to prevent infection..
In case if itching is severe you can take antihistamine like Levocetrizine..

In case of allergic reaction anti allergics and steroid lotion can relieve you..
Along with it avoiding any chemical hair cosmetics should be done..
