Hello,
Itching of the clitoris may occur due to increased sensitivity from sexual arousal. However, sometimes it may be persistent, which can be a sign of infections like thrush,
bacterial vaginosis or other health conditions. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene, wear soft loose fitting cotton undies and clothes. Cold compress is helpful. Do not douche.
You can take a course of
metronidazole if BV is the cause. A single dose of
Secnidazole is also helpful. In case of thrush, a course of antifungal medications taken orally is effective. Applying
clotrimazole cream on the affected area will give relieve from
fungal infection. You can apply Vagasil cream for relief.
Get clinically examined by a gynecologist, if problems with the nerves on the flaps of skin around the clitoris are detected to be the cause of the discomfort or sometimes for cosmetic reasons surgery (reduction surgery) may be recommended. Any excess folds in the clitoral hood is removed by the surgeon during the procedure. They will then close the wound, usually with dissolvable stitches.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
