I have red splotches that are appearing, disappearing and reappearing that itch like crazy. It is amazingly horrible at night, keeping me from being able to fall asleep because the redness gets bright red and the itch is horrible all over. It is appearing all over my body especially my back neck and jaw area, legs and arms. What could this be and what can I do to stop the itch?
This could be a case of urticaria which is characterized by appearance of wheals and has multiple causes. So I would first like to know few things from you like Duration of the spots and how long do they last? Are they raised above skin? History of drug intake? History of fever, loose motions, stomach ache, sore throat, cough, toothache, burning while urination? History of allergy to any food item? History of swelling of lips or eyes? History of thyoid disorder? History of worms in the stools? You can start with tablet levocetrizine 5 mg twice daily for control of itching.
