Hello am experiencing pain in the top and bottom of my knee. I am a basketball player and experience pain when jumping and running while playing.I believe it is jumpers knee however after doing exercises to strengthen my knee and staying out of basketball for 4 months i still experience pain while I play. I use a jumpers knee strap but it only seems to bother me more than help me. Can you recommend a better strap to be using or pain medication or anything to get rid of it as soon as possible
The treatment and management of a condition or a disease is based on the cause for it,we need to have a diagnosis before starting on the treatment..you need to get an X-ray of your knee, along with an MRI of the same to reach a diagnosis, only then exact management will be decided.
In the meantime, you need to start physiotherapy, along with avoidance of any activity then puts strain on your knee, simultaneously you have to keep your range of movement intact, keep using the belt they are all equally effective, further line of treatment will be based on diagnosis only.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Rohan Shanker Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
