Suggest Remedy For Loose Stool And Gas When Recovering From Flu
I am a 33 yr old my stool started getting loose last week. I pass gas more frequently and yesterday I noticed mucus on the soft stool. today I feel the urgent need to relieve myself and only mucus like substance comes out. WhAt could it be? two weeks ago I underwent treatment for an eye infection/ pink eye and have just recovered from flu. pls help am worried
Flu can indeed have effects on your GI system and can cause symptoms that you have described. Unless you have persistent fever and/or were recently given an antibiotic, I would recommend waiting for one more week to see if your symptoms resolve. If they don't, I would recommend seeing a doctor who will do tests and determine whether your symptoms are infectious etiology or non-infectious etiology and treat it accordingly. Meanwhile, I would recommend eating plenty of yogurts, drink plenty of fluids, and avoiding fruit juices that can worsen your diarrhea.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saralkumar R. Desai, General & Family Physician
