hi, I've been experiencing this problem for years. It's this blockage of mucus in my nose and it keeps slipping to the back of my throat and Im forced to swallow. Right now it's late at night and im afraid to go to bed because when Im asleep the mucus drips to my throat and sits there without it being cleared so when I wake up in the morning all I feel is congestion in my nose and I can't breath through it at all. And I also wake up with a sore throat because of the mucus sitting there. It feels like my breathing passage ways are clogged. Is there anyway to solve this problem before I go to bed?
Hi,thank you for posting your query on health care magic.
Looking at your symptoms, you are suffering from repeated inflammation in the nose.Allergy might be a cause.
You may find relief by taking the following medicines: Oral decongestant like Phenylephrine and Nasal decongestant drops like Xylometazoline(take decongestant only if you are not suffering from hypertension), Antihistaminic like Cetrizine, Mucolytic like Ambroxol, Saline nasal spray, and Analgesic and anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen in case of throat pain.
Also do warm saline gargles.Do steam inhalation.Drink lots of fluids(warm) as they help in break down of mucus secretions.Avoid cold, very sweet ,oily food, milk and milk products as they increase mucus production.Avoid dust, smoke and other pollutants.
Hope this answers your question.take care.
