Suggest Remedy For Nasal Congestion After Surgery For Deviated Septum
Hello, I just had a deviated septum surgery on Sept 14th and also had turbinates reduced and a polyp removed. I am still very congested and wanted to ask what I can do to relieve the congestion? Saline sprays? Nasal rinses? Mucinex? please help... it was been a brutal recovery! Thank you!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nasal congestion after surgery for deviated septum . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons , but it is common to have congestion after nasal surgery because of swelling, infection, septal hematoma, or excessive crusting . Congestion after surgery is sign of improvement , But as per your query its being long times congestion still there after surgery . It seems to me that there is infection that is causing congestion .I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may examine physically and order nasal endoscopy to rule out condition like nasal polyp . Doctor may prescribe anti inflammatory along with antibiotics at least for 10 days . Sometimes doctor may reconsider surgery . For now take steam and apply warm compresses on nose .
Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
