HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The otrivin can only be used for a short period of time, up the 5 day at a time.
When it is used, she should use the pediatric version because the adult version would contain a higher dose.

If it is used for a longer period of time, it can cause rebound congestion. This means that it can worsen any nasal congestion if used for longer at a time.

She should use a topical steroid nasal spray such as nasonex, nasocort, flonase, rhinocort.
The use of an antihistamine and a oral decongestant would also help.

Using the combination at night would help her.

I hope this helps
