Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 28 y.o female had surgery for tarsal tunnel in January 2010. After surgery my pain and numbness was worse that it was before surgery. I had a revision with a different dr in November 2010. He wrapped the nerve in a collagen wrap. I dehised part of the incision and ended up with MRSA. We did a wash out in December and treated it with oral antibiotics --Bactrim DS. I continued to have numbness and tingling sensations along with moderate pain...some nerve type pain and various other pain through my entire foot. This was diagnosed as RSD and I was sent to pain mgt.dr. I an skeptical about the RSD diagnosis. My question is I began to have periods whre my whole foot would go numb and then eventually go away. Yesterday my whole foot again went numb and I started having the worst pain I have EVER had and also a stabbing pain from bottom of my foot through my ankle where the incision is. The numbness and pain is persistent and still present tonight, Should I be worried about this? What could this be?
