Suggest Remedy For Numbness In Feet After Total Replacement Surgery

Left total knee replacement 3 years ago. Recently diagnosed with stenosis T10-11, after experiencing numbness in bilateral feet, worse on left side- numbness went to knee area. Previously active but went from walking with cane then to walker. Surgery 4/28/15 spinal fusion T10-T12. Recovering well from surgery, still have numbness in feet but improved., walking with cane. I was experiencing some Lt. Knee pain prior to surgery but now am in significant pain. Extreme tight feeling in knee, most on top and high front of knee. Have tried cold packs and heat- heat seems to help a little more. Taking Aleve. I am also taking oxycodone prescribed following back surgery for back pain and it is not helping knee. Thank you for your help

Hi,

The numbness in feet would be because of the spinal problem which you had. It doesn't seem to be related to the knee surgery. Stenosis at spine can cause such a symptom. The symptom may go away in a few days or weeks time as the operated area would be still having some amount of swelling etc., which would be the reason for it.

I would advise you to take physiotherapy which would definitely help you. Knee pain after a surgery conducted 3 years back is unusual. Please visit your treating surgeon for it and seek his opinion so as to find out the reason.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
