Suggest Remedy For Numbness, Tingling And Burning Hands And Feet While Having Cervical Myelopathy
Hello.. I am a seventy-four year old grandma who was diagnosed with Cervical Myelopathy in Feb. 2014. Levels c4 and c5 have osteophytes distorting the spinal cord. Numbness, tingling and burning are symptoms that come and go in my hands, arms and sometimes feet. During the day I usually experience no symptoms or very few and sitting up during the night relieves those symptoms almost immediately. I have decided against the surgery until my symptoms have increased. I am experiencing no pain. Am I just playing with fire or would this be considered a conservative approach?

These changes in your spine at C4 and C5 can cause pain, tingling and numbness in your arms but not in the legs. Your nerve are likely compressed at cervical level. Consult a physiotherapist or rehabilitation medicine specialist in your area he will advice you physiotherapy and some exercises as physical therapy is main treatment of your condition. He may also advice some pain killers. Mean while use soft neck collar and you can use tablet tizanidine (1 tab PO before sleeping) and 1 tablet diclofenac sodium when you are feeling pain.
