Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just left the oral surgeon. I had a broken drill bit removed from my jaw and some bone shaved down. Also I was told I have a blood clot/hematoma in my cheek. Several hours after surgery the hydroxide 5/325 isn't working at all to relieve excruciating pain and dentist refuses to prescribe anything else but is requesting to see me back in office immediately. Is there anything else I can take to relieve pain? I'm healthy in my 20s, no smoking, or history of drug abuse.
As per your complain after a dental surgery pain and tenderness is a common thing and a strong painkiller Like Tramadol or ketorol DT can be taken to control it..
Along with it antibiotic cover is also given to avoid infections..
In case if pain is not controlled injectable painkillers like voveran is given to control pain..
But as the surgeon knows your entire case you should immediately consult him in his clinic as there may be something he needs to see clinically before he can prescribe you some other painkiilers..
You can also ask for a painkiller injection if you have severe pain..
Hope your query is solved..
