Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling In The Arm Post Injury

Two days ago I got punched in the arm several times and the area is so swollen it looks like half a softball attached to my arm. It causes severe pain when touched and it hurts to lift things. The swelling hasn t gone down. How should I take care of it?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain softball like lump over the arm after being punched is due to severe inflammation of the soft tissues due to repeated traumatic injuries leading to swelling and severe pain..

Several times swelling is due to Hematoma formation that is a harmless tumor like mass formed due to spillage of blood from ruptured blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood into the soft tissues forming a lump..

At times the hematoma gets localized and encapsulated and forms a firm hard lump that can take a long time, say a few months to resolve, but it generally tend to resolve itself..

You should do cool compresses over the lump..
Apply numbing gel containing Linocaine to relieve pain..
Take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and inflammation..
Apply Heparin gel as it help in faster disintegration of the hematoma..

In case if it worsen consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated..
