Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have E fairly deep cut on the inside of my thumb about an inch long. it is causing me massive amounts of pain and is swollen half way of my arm. I have been using Hibiclens soaks and Epsom salt and got A antibiotic from a friend that I just started to take but I cannot get the pain to go away. what can I do without going to the doctor as I am uninsured
The symptoms seem to be related to an infection of the thumb. I suggest to continue the cycle of antibiotics. I recommend using Augmentin 626 g twice a day for a week. I also recommend using anti inflammatory medications. I recommend to clean the area with hydrogen peroxide and cover it with an antibiotic cream such as Neosporin cream. If the symptoms continue, you should consult a physician for a physical examination.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
