Suggest Remedy For Pain In Back Of Knee Post Stretching

I m a dancer. I ve been trying to work on my flexibiliy, so I ve been stretching. About 4 weeks ago I reached my left split for the first time, however I wasn t very warmed up and have pulled something going up the back of my leg... Through online research I think I ve pulled my hamstring. I can t stop training, and I m already 4 weeks behind. Everytime I go down even nearly into the splits I get a pain down the back of my left leg, mainly the back of the knee. I also get this pain when doing high kicks and when stretching my head to my left knee. Is there anything I can do to heal this?? Thank you

Hello,

Most probable reasons for your pain in the back of knee might be the following:
1) Leg cramps
2) Patellar tendonitis
3) Hamstrings injury
4) Baker's cyst
5) Calf strain
6) Meniscal tear
7) Posterior cruciate ligament injury
8) Arthritis

Mostly your pain is due to hamstrings strain. The following treatment is recommended:
1) Pain relief medication like NSAIDs ibuprofen or Naproxen to be taken twice daily for 7 days
2) You can use tab. Pantop 40 mg once daily before food to prevent gastric irritation caused by pain medication
3) If you can't use NSAIDs like in kidney failure and bleeding disorders, you can use opioids like Hydrocodone, Oxycodone and Tramadol instead of Ibuprofen
4) If your pain doesn't come down in 4-5 days, you need to consult an orthopedic specialist
You may require investigations like X-ray of knee joint, MRI of knee joint and back side.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
