Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi i fell over on a chair today as the corner leg became unbalance on the edge of the step and I fell over onto the lower patio and landed on my left arm i think i hit my elbow first, i can move my fingers in and out, but it hurts when i bring my arm close to my chest and outwards
Hello and welcome to HCM, The fall has led to injury to soft tissues of the arm. Soft tissue injury includes muscle injury like sprain, strain etc. There is little possibility of fracture because fracture causes severe pain and inability to move the affected limb. However, a X-ray will be required to assess the bones and surrounding soft tissues to look for any kind of fracture. Soft tissue injuries are managed by hot fomentation, pain killers and muscle relaxants. In some cases immobilization may also be required. Thus, I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for further work up.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
