Suggest Remedy For Pain In Head Due To Getting Hit

Doesn t seem too serious, but my 16 yr old daughter was practicing for a band/flag show and missed the flag that she threw into the air. It clocked her on the forehead. An egg appeared very quickly. She cried but now has ice on it and is talking and in smiling mode. It still hurts her & hasn t gone down yet. Should I give her anything else?

hi there,
I am Dr. Deepak, I work in Emergency Department, where I see many patients with head injury. As you mentioned your daughter had injured her head while she was practicing for a band. her head swelled up and you applied ice (it was a good thing to do). Now your daughter has stopped crying and is playful.
I feel your daughter has sustained minor injury to head, as she didn't loose consciousness, didn't had vomiting and now she is pretty much okay and playful.
You did the good thing by applying ice pack at the swelling, it might take some time for the swelling to come down. it can take 6-7 days for the swelling to completely go down. You can give her some pain killer if the swelling is very sore.
Thank you
I hope your concern was dealt with and your daughter has a speedy recovery.
