Suggest Remedy For Pain In Heel, Outer Edge Of Heel And Ankle

I have serious pain on the underside of my left heel and pain on the left outer edge by the back of the heel. I have not injured it in anyway and find it difficult to walk. Also the back of the ankle where the skinny part of the ankle meets your lower calf.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, seems acute muscle or ligament sprain or strain provided plantar calcaneal spur condition is ruled out by an X-ray of the ankle. Guidelines at present for better recovery:
- Local application of heating pad
- Use Diclofenac, Linseed oil or Capsaicin cream or spray
- Medications such as Ibuprofen, Diclofenac or Etoricoxib with meals.
If no history of drug sensitivity:
- Use soft slippers instead of tight shoes
- Control of body weight
- Control of blood sugar
- Avoid sitting prolong in leg dependent position

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
