Suggest Remedy For Pain In Neck While Chewing And Swallowing

On December 29 2013 I was a victim of strangulation. Since then I have experienced extreme pain on the left side of my neck, under my jaw bone. It is as if I have to pop something back into place and I do this by placing my two or three fingers firmly on the area, and swallowing (painful) repeatedly until I feel a pop and then only a dull ache remains for some time. It has been getting worse and has now progressed to a constant ache and pain while swallowing, smiling, chewing, etc. Could this be a broken hyoid bone?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should get help immediately from an ENT doctor to examine you physically and check for possible broken cartilage or hematoma. You need further evaluation as soon as possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
