Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Since this morning I have been having pain in my rib cage. Under my breasts, above my navel. This pain comes & goes as if there is a weight being set on my ribs then lifted off. I also have nausea & lack of appetite. When the pain comes it makes it hard to breath & it wraps around to my back. Also there is a rumbling under my ribs. What could all this mean?

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to costochondritis if there is pain on palpation present. But if you have symptoms of gastritis then it can be from gastric reflux. A cardiac condition should be ruled out by doing ECG also. For costochondritis in my patients I treat with anti inflammatory gels like diclofenac or nimusulide for local application. If pain is more then I advise oral tablets of same. If further no improvement then I advise local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
