Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Good evening. Approx 7 weeks ago I injured my wrist from playing volleyball. Ortho Dr suspected a scaphoid break and casted me for three weeks at which time he took second X-rays which did not show a break. He suggested I continue with a splint as needed. It has been seven weeks and I find my wrist aches majority of the day. I attend physio twice a week and have most of my range of motion back but still have a lot of discomfort. If I wear the splint it does reduce the acheness but I am trying not to use the splint for low impact use. Is this common for this injury to continue to hurt this long?
The symptoms seem to be related to the injury. The pain is normal after the injury. I recommend to use anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain. I also recommend to use cold compresses for local application.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
