Suggest Remedy For Pain In Sternum With Movement After Being Hit

Hi. My friend and I were having a friendly wrestling match last night. He went to put me over his shoulder but his shoulder went into my sternum. It was not caused by blunt force. His shoulder bone must have just put pressure on the wrong spot of my sternum. I have a hard time with deep breaths, sitting up, yawning, and coughing, hick ups, certain movements are extremely painful for me. Do you have any idea of what could be wrong and how long it will take to heal?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and a chest X-ray study. It could be just local musculo-skeletal inflammation or a broken rib.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
