Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sharp pain in my anal/tailbone area when I bend over, and sometimes a random spasm of short sharp pain. I also feel light pressure and a light pain while sitting. I haven t seen any hemorrhoids and I also have no problems with bowel movements. What do you think it could be?
Pain in the tailbone or coccyx without pain in the lower back. Pain when rising from a seated position to a standing position. Frequent need to defecate or pain while defecating. Relief of pain when sitting on legs or only on one buttock.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). . Applying ice or a cold pack to the area several times a day for the first few days after the pain starts. Applying heat or a hot pack to the area after the first few days. Avoiding sitting for prolonged periods, or placing any pressure on the area, as much as possible. A custom pillow to help take pressure off the coccyx when sitting.
