Suggest Remedy For Pain In The Ribs After A Popping Sensation
Yesterday as I leaned over the crib rail to place my sleeping baby inside, I heard a pop followed by a sharp pain on my loft rib area. Pain has been a moderate deep ache and not like that of a broken rib. I feel much more like I have been very well beaten! After waking this morning, the pain is not as intense generally but still deeply achy and intensifies with pressure, lifting (3 kids so it can t be avoided) and bending. So, what s going on... Bruised rib, something strained, cracked rib???
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Fracture rib would cause constant pain while breathing. You don't seem to have it. So the pain can be due to simple muscle pull, sprain or at the most a hairline fracture of rib.( which suggests calcium / vitamin deficiency-- a more possibility .. in a lady with having 3 children to manage at a time. ) You should try with rest, fomentation of the part. avoid massage, but light application of muscle relaxant ointment will do. take pain killer like combiflam after food twice a day. You should start getting relief in 12-24 hours. If no relief consult your family doctor. Get investigated as per need & start specific treatment. Thanks.
