Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having acute pain under my right arm; it is really hard to explain; no lumps detected during self exam but just painful at certain times. It feels muscular but Tylenol doesn t really help.. could it be glandular? I have an appointment with my GYN but not until the end of July...
Pain under the right arm may be caused by cysts, infection, or irritation due to shaving or antiperspirant use. It can be due to joint pain. Other medical conditions that can cause such symptoms are developing lymphedema, hidradenitis suppurativa, breast cancer, etc.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist or GP to detect the cause. Treatment will depend on the cause detected. You will have to get blood tests and investigations (X-ray, CT, MRI) done, you may need conservative (with antibiotics and anti inflammatory) treatment or your doctor may recommend surgical treatment depending upon your symptoms and response to treatment given.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
