Suggest Remedy For Painful Boil On Inner Buttock Cheek
I accidentally popped what I think might be a boil on my inner buttcheek. I ve been keeping it clean and dry. Been placing warm compresses on it a few times a day along with putting mupirpcin on it. It s been two days and there doesn t seem to be much change. The top of it is flat and black and seems to be scabbed over and there is a hard puss filled lump that only goes one way it does not surround it. It is very painful but I assume that s because it s very close to the genital region. What should I do? And is this in fact staph?
Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I will keep a possibility of Furuncle which is a bacterial infection of the skin and soft tissue with surrounding cellulitis, the infection gaining entry through the hair follicle. Topical you may continue using OTC topical antibacterial ointment e.g 2% mupirocin ointment, twice daily. Oral antibiotics would be more effective since Furuncles are usually deeper. If I was the treating doctor I would have also started you on an oral antibiotic for a week e.g either flucloxacillin Or cepahlexin. Oral antibiotics are prescription drugs, therefore, I will suggest you to talk with your physician regarding the same. You may take an OTC oral antiinflammatory e.g ibuprofen twice daily for symptomatic relief from pain and swelling.
