Suggest Remedy For Painful Knot On Head With Pressure After Being Hit On Head
hi I am a 54yr old female. I was bent over and when I stood up fast I hit my head very hard on the bottom of the counter. It hit the top middle part of my head. I felt pain in my neck at the time. I have pain and large knot, headache and pressure inside my head like my ears need to pop. I am sleepy. I iced it but no change. what should I do?
Your symptoms are quite normal after a head concussion. I would just recommend you to have some rest and take ibuprofen for the headache. The knot is caused by the injury of the soft tissues surrounding the scull. Your situation will improve in the next days. If this does not happen, or if in the contrary, your situation worsens with increased sleepiness, nausea or gait disturbances, I would recommend going to the ER for a careful physical exam and a brain CT scan to exclude any possible delayed intracranial bleeding. Hope you will find this answer helpful! Best wishes, Dr. Aida
