Suggest Remedy For Painful, Swollen And Itchy Vagina After Having Intercourse
I am a 51 year old woman. I had a hysterectomy about 8 years ago. Over the past several months, I have noticed that when having intercourse, I feel as if my vagina is tearing. It generally takes me several days after sex for the pain to go away. This past weekend, we were sitting for a prolonged period playing board games, and I noticed the next day that my vaginal area felt swollen, and was painful burning and itching. The pain can be described as burning/stinging and is even worse when I urinate. I have tried vaginal moisture wipes, Vagisil and Preparation H to help alleviate the burning, itching and stinging.
After menopause, it is natural that vagina will dry and reproductive organs gets atrophied and that dry vagina is culprit for pain during intercourse. Its mainly because of deficiency of female sex hormones. So you may be treated with those hormones along with some anti inflammatory analgesic medicines. My advice for you to Go to your gynaecologist for proper checkup and treatment. To prevent pain during relation, you may use some lubricants and OTC pain killer at recommended doses. Also you should take care of good hygiene.
